This project has an interesting location with its proximity to the Brays Bayou. The pre-existing mid-century house was flooded and homeowner aims to construct a new modern house that would mitigate the potential flood hazard but still blend in to the existing context. The layout is wisely placed to provide the major space the views of overlooking both the bayou and the spacious backyard. The programs cascade down to the ground to create transitional space between indoor/outdoor, and soften the fact that the house is 5’ off the ground. Instead of downplaying the effect of the bayou, this house embraces the quality of the bayou.
